Gold Sofi Awards at the 55th Summer Fancy Food Show
 

THE INDUSTRY'S MOST COVETED HONOR

What do we mean by "SOFI"? The name stands for "Specialty Outstanding Food Innovatioin" and represents the best teh specialty food industry has to offer, today and in years past.

The SofI Awards are presented by the National Association of the Specialty Food Trade (NASFT), a not-for-profit trade associatioin that has been representing the industry since 1952 and has presented the Fancy Food Show since 1955. Today the SOFI Awards represent culinary creativity across America and around the globe.

The silver Finalists are selected at the NASFT offices in New York City by a national panel of food retailer and foodservice professional and journalists.

THE JUDGING PROCESS:

NASFT members submit some 2000 products to the first round of the competition. There are 33 awards categories, which reflect the breadth and diversity of the speciality food industry. Products are judged on the following characteristics:

Taste . Quality . Indredient Profile . Merchandisability. Best in its class

The judges are top professionals within the specialty food industry and include specialty food retialers, supermarket buyers, natural food mechants, mass marketers, chefs, caterers, journalists and culinary educator. The judges spend a full five days teasting and evaluating all enteries to come up with a list of Silver Finalists across all categories. The Gold Winners are selected from the Silver Finalists by about 400 retailers and food service buyers attending the Fancy Food Show. The judges at the show taste the products and vote on the best using the same criteria as in round 1. The judging takes two days, supervised by an independent auditor.
